AUGUST 24 – DAVID MOORCROFT (pictured) has resigned as the chief executive of UK Athletics because he did not see himself still being in charge when London stages the Olympics in 2012.

AUGUST 26 - BRITAIN enjoyed a successful day at the World Rowing Championships on Dorney Lake in Eton, the course which will stage the Olympics in 2012.

JULY 3 - BRITISH sailing was celebrating another major sponsorship deal after Panasonic UK became the official consumer electronics supplier to the team, the most successful in the world.

JULY 20 - SEBASTIAN COE, the chairman of London 2012, today helped David Moorcroft, the chief executive of UK Athletics, launch a new plan designed to help raise standards in the sport.

The "Power of 10" has been conceived in association with Vero Communications, the company set up earlier this year by London's former spin doctor Mike Lee.

JULY 26 - BRITISH TRIATHLON has signed a £1 million deal with steel maker Corus, its first major corporate sponsorship deal.

JUNE 2- TRIATHLON today signed a record $20 million sponsorship deal that will ensure the sport enjoys record funding as it approaches the 2012 Olympics in London.

JUNE 7 – LONDON 2012 today unveiled their masterplan for the Games site moving volleyball from the Olympic Park to Earls Court and revealing minor changes and details of how the facilities will be used once the Games have finished.

JUNE 13 – FACILITIES at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) are to be developed by the Olympic Delivery Authority before it stages the sailing during the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, it was announced today.

JUNE 14 – BRITAIN’S fledging men’s Olympic volleyball team has completed its first summer training camp in Glasgow, which marked the start of British Volleyball’s intensive six-year plan to prepare for the 2012 Games.

JUNE 30 - THE British Basketball Federation has announced the venues for its 2006 home games for the teams competing in the European B-Division Championships as the sport begins to try to qualify for the London Olympics in 2012.

APRIL 4 – BRITISH ATHLETICS was celebrating today after signing a record six-year £50 million sponsorship agreement with Norwich Union that will allow the country’s top competitors to prepare for the 2012 Olympics in London.

APRIL 29 – A MAJOR new training facility to help Britain’s rowers to train for the 2012 Olympics and named after the sport’s two greatest names was opened today. The £13 million Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake and Sherriff Boathouse in Caversham near Reading was officially opened by Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent (pictured).

MAY 8 – BRITISH ATHLETICS has benefited from the London Olympic “effect” by signing another major sponsorship deal just a month after getting £50 million backing from Norwich Union. Vonage, an Internet telephone company, have signed up to become the official telecoms sponsor to UK Athletics and will set up Team Vonage to financially support a group of elite stars tipped for success in 2012.

MAY 11 – GREAT BRTAIN’S Olympic hockey authorities have announced details of a new agreement between the three constituent Home Countries, ending three years of dispute over the best way forward and raise hopes of recapturing the glory days of 1988 when Britain’s men won the gold medal in Seoul (pictured).
