The Netherlands Harrie Lavreysen, Alessa-Catriona Pröpster of Germany, Japan's Eiya Hashimoto, and Briton Katie Archibald took top spots in the sprint and endurance categories after the first round of the International Cycling Union Track Champions League in Mallorca.

Double Olympic gold medallist Lavreysen was the night's top performer at the Velodrom Illes Balears as he won the men's sprint and keirin.

The performances saw the 26-year-old amass a maximum 40 points overall to lead the men's sprint standings ahead of Frenchman Tom Derache and Australia's Matthew Richardson on 30 and 26 points, respectively.

"The sprint final was really good," Lavreysen said.

"It was a bit weird having had three riders in the heats and only two of us in the final, and we started pushing a little earlier than usual, which maybe wasn't necessary.

"The sprint was pretty quick and decided on the last lap, and I was feeling good.

"As for the keirin final, that was a really good, tactical race.

"I had Kevin [Quintero] in front of me and Matthew [Richardson] behind me, which allowed me to control the race, and I picked the right moment to go.

"It feels really good to have started like this, without any mistakes, so I am happy.

"Consistency is key in the UCI Track Champions League so I need to recover well now so I am fresh for Berlin, and focus on that."

Hashimoto recorded 31 points in the men's endurance races courtesy of a victory in the scratch and fifth place in the elimination.

Scratch world champion from 2022 Dylan Bibic of Canada is six points off the top in second place and is followed by Belgian Tuur Dens on 24.

Archibald took second place in the women's scratch before going one better in the elimination to top the endurance standings on 37 points ahead of American Lily Williams' 35 and Norway's Anita Yvonne Stenberg with 30.

Pröpster then took control of the women's sprint table with a surprise win in the sprint race final over British world champion Emma Finucane.

She then finished third in the keirin to post a points total of 35.

Colombia's Martha Bayona and New Zealand's Ellesse Andrews follow behind on 32 and 30 points, respectively.

The second round of the UCI Track Champions League is set to take place on Saturday (October 28) at the Berlin Velodrom in Germany's capital.
