On the Olympic Day (23 June 2024), which coincides with the centenary of the first Winter Olympics (Chamonix-Mont-Blanc 192), the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay set off to light up the Haute-Savoie region for a historic and symbolic day.

The Olympic torch relay has reached the Loire for its 38th stage and set off early this morning to explore the department's roads on a route that took it from Charlieu to Saint-Étienne, with stops in Montbrison and Saint-Chamond.

The Olympic Torch Relay recharged its batteries in Vichy, an area famous for its water, its thermal baths and its historical heritage. From Le Mayet-de-Montagne to Vichy, more than 100 Torchbearers took it in turns to light up the area's emblematic sites.

After the amazing Ocean Relay in the France Overseas Territories, the Olympic Torch headed north to the Drôme département. This land of contrasts, from Grignan and Hauterives to Valence, is ideal for resting between natural landscapes and towns and cities full of character. The highlight was a triathlon team relay in Valence, where the famous three-Michelin-star chef Anne-Sophie Pic lit the cauldron in front of a huge crowd.

The Olympic Torch Relay continued to Apt and in particular the Riaille lake, before heading to the historical centre of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, nicknamed the Venice of the Comtat Venaissin area, where it visited the Bassin de Bouïgas weir.

The Olympic torch has returned to metropolitan France after an emotionally charged Ocean Relay. To celebrate its return, freediver Alice Modolo symbolically retrieved it from the sea in the harbor of Villefranche-sur-Mer, the birthplace of global freediving.

The Olympic Torch made a spectacular journey to the four corners of Martinique, known as the "Island of Flowers", revealing all that makes it so attractive, from the summit of the Montagne Pelée volcano to its lush landscapes and beaches.

This Saturday will be remembered for a long time. For the first time in history, the Olympic Torch shone in Guadeloupe on a day that began with its majestic arrival aboard the trimaran Maxi Banque Populaire XI, which crossed the Atlantic Ocean after leaving Brest on 7 June.

The Olympic Torch has dropped anchor on the island of Réunion to continue the Ocean Relay in overseas France. The "Intense Island" put its best foot forward, starting with the breathtaking landscapes of the Plaine des Sables and Pointe Langevin.

The Olympic Torch Relay enjoyed a festive day in the Finistère before leaving Brest to begin a unique chapter in a special journey to light up five French overseas territories. This Friday, the relay continued its tour of Brittany, from surfing to hiking, with a palpable enthusiasm between Port-la-Forêt and Brest.

The return of the Olympic Torch to Brittany was welcomed with enthusiasm and provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the Morbihan, an Atlantic region with an attractive coastline and a rich historical heritage.

On Wednesday, the Olympic torch visited an area of great diversity and the collective relay was dedicated to tennis, led by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, but also including actress Virginie Ledoyen and former footballer Christian Karembeu. Roger-Yves Bost, equestrian Olympic champion at Rio 2016, lit the ceremonial cauldron.

This Tuesday, the Vendée took pride of place in the Olympic Torch Relay. With 250 km of coastline, this region has a strong identity and is home to nautical sports, seaside tourism and fishing.

Up to 90 torchbearers from different generations kept the Olympic relay rolling through France’s countryside on Sunday, passing the heart of the ‘Green Venice’ and honouring the martial art’s sporting heritage in the region, on its way to the Atlantic coast.

The Olympic Torch continues its epic journey around mainland France, this time weaving through nature and heritage from Saint-Malo through the enchanting Brocéliande Forest, to Rennes, in the heart of Brittany.
