London by night 3 (Small)June 1 - The Landmark Trust, the building preservation charity that rescues historic buildings at risk, is staging an Olympic Games auction which offers luxurious stays near venues during London 2012.

The auction, which is now open and will run until midday on July 15, 2011, is accepting bids on 14 properties.

Three of the properties are located in central London, just a short distance away from the Olympic Park in Stratford, eight of the properties are located in outer London and surrounding such as Surrey, which will feature a large part of the Olympic cycling road race, and three of the properties are located in Dorset where the Olympic sailing competition will be.

Katherine Oakes, a spokesperson for the Landmark Trust, told insidethegames: "So far we have had some interest in the Olympic Games auction but the take up has not been huge so there are still a lot of the properties available.

"However, once people find out their ticket allocation for London 2012, we expect there to be a surge in interest as people look for accommodation near the venues that they will be going to.

"The properties up for auction have been specifically selected due to their close proximity to London 2012 venues so they are certainly very convenient for those who receive tickets for the Games or who simply want to be in around the Olympic Games next year."

The Olympic Games auction details the minimum price bids that can be submitted with the additional income generated put towards the restoration of historic buildings at risk.

Minimum bids start from £447 ($731) for a four-night stay but range up to £3,000 ($4,903) for a four-night stay at the premier central London location.

If two identical offers are made, the winning offer will be randomly drawn by an independent person while the successful bidders will be notified by telephone or email by July 22, 2011.

Full payment must be made by July 29, 2011, but in all other respects, standard Landmark Trust booking conditions apply.
