"We will have a lot of tourists," said Beccuau ahead of the summer event, which runs from 26 July to 11 August and will see Paris welcome 15 million visitors, five million more than usual for this time of year.

With the massive influx of visitors expected during this global sporting event, 59 days before the start of the Olympic Games, Beccuau pointed to a possible increase in crimes such as pickpocketing, violence and even sexual assault, which he described as classic forms of crime.

In addition to traditional crime, cyber-attacks are a major concern for the authorities. The Paris public prosecutor's office, which has national responsibility for combating cybercrime, is expecting an increase in cyber-attacks, as in previous editions of the Olympics. The main concern, she said, is cyber-attacks, "which we know will increase".

To prepare for the challenge of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Paris prosecutor's office is planning to significantly increase its staff. Additional magistrates will be mobilised, notably from the Paris Court of Appeal. The number of pre-trial hearings will also increase.
