World Table Tennis has announced that the next WTT Champions event will be held in Chongqing. The city will be the first in South West China to host a WTT Series event.

WTT Champions Chongqing will feature the world's top 32 men's and women's singles players from 27 May to 2 June in the second scheduled WTT Champions event of 2024. 

Steve Dainton, CEO of World Table Tennis (WTT), said: "WTT Champions Chongqing is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase the deep roots and vibrant future of table tennis in the heart of China. We are committed to creating an event that will not only captivate our global audience, but also honour the legacy of the sport and its power to inspire and connect people around the world." 

Feng Yimei, Deputy Mayor of Banan District, said: "Our state-of-the-art Huaxi International Sports and Cultural Centre is a testament to our commitment to promoting sports and cultural exchange. We're looking forward to showing the world Chongqing's warmth and hospitality, while providing an exceptional experience for athletes and fans alike."

With a population of over 30 million, Chongqing is renowned for its Bayu culture and 3,000-year-old urban heritage. Within the city is the Banan District, famous for its enthusiastic table tennis community. The competition will be held at the Huaxi International Sports and Cultural Centre, an arena renowned for its world-class facilities.
