The updated rankings include results from the groups of the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup held in Thunder Bay in Canada and the Japanese city of Miyoshi.

After five wins in Group B at their home WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup, Japan stay top of the rankings, where they have been placed since the inaugural release in 2012.

Chinese Taipei are second having won four Group B matches and lost only to Japan, and Venezuela climbed to their highest-ever position of third after victory in last year's Americas Qualifier and a third-place finish in Group B of the World Cup.

The United States are fourth, and Mexico climbed seven places to fifth.

Despite finishing second in Group A of the Women's World Cup, Canada dropped from third to eighth after points acquired before September 2019 expired and they did not compete in the Americas Qualifier.

Dominican Republic were the biggest fallers from sixth to 18th after their results from before September 2019 expired, with no women's baseball events held in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Five new nations were added to the rankings, giving the list a record 25 teams.

Indonesia are in at 17th, Thailand at 19th, Malaysia and Sri Lanka in joint-21st and Britain in 25th.

The WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Finals are due to be held next year in Thunder Bay featuring the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Venezuela.

The tournament was last held in 2018 due to the cancellation of the 2021 edition because of COVID-19.
