Revered former Vietnamese footballer Lê Công Vinh, scorer of more than 50 goals for the national team, shared his experience with more than 100 athletes and coaches at a career orientation seminar held by the Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC).

The aim of the event at the Da Nang National Sports Training Centre - which also involved experts in sports economics, employment consulting and business - was to help and guide athletes to make their transition from their sport to their working careers and to support retired athletes in finding employment.

Công Vinh has created his own successful post-career start-up business, as has fitness expert Nguyen Hang, who was also on hand to offer advice.

The seminar, supported by the Olympic Council of Asia, also provided the athletes with business initiatives and entrepreneurial information and tips to help them find a job after retiring from elite sport.

Topics discussed as part of the careers advice included sports economics, employment for athletes, entrepreneurship, training programme for talented athletes at Da Nang Sports University, recruitment of staff and practical training.

Presenters for the event included Tran Van Manh, general secretary of the VOC, Nguyen Trong Thao, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Duong Manh Thang, vice principal of Da Nang Sports University.
