French duo Matisse Pacaud and Lucie De Gennes successfully defended sailing’s 470 Junior World Championships title in Lithuania.

Pacaud and De Gennes produced a dominant display throughout the Championships mastering challenging conditions to open a comfortable lead heading into the final day’s medal races.

The French pair knew they only needed to avoid penalties to come out on top, but made sure of victory by winning the final medal race, as they finished with a total of 21 points.

The silver medals went to Israeli duo Roy Levy and Ariel Gal, who finished with 55 points, with the 17-year-old duo also finishing top in the under-21 category.

The bronze medals were awarded to French pair Manon Pennaneach and Pierre Williot, who ended with 72 points.

In the under-21 category, behind Levy and Gal, the silver medals went to Neus Ballester Bover and Jaime Wizner of Spain, who finished with 99 points.

The under-21 bronze medals were awarded to Julia Jacobsen and Emil Forslund of Norway with 128 points.

After a sunny final day of competition, there was a heavy downpour during the prize-giving ceremony, which took place under a large tent.
