Brazil extended their domination of the Women's South American Volleyball Championship by lifting the trophy at their home tournament in Recife.

They are joined by second-placed Argentina and third-placed Colombia from the round robin in securing qualification to the International Volleyball Federation Women's World Championship in 2025.

Brazil won the tournament for the 23rd time and the 15th time in succession by winning all four matches in the round robin at the Geraldo Magalhães Sports Gymnasium.

They started with a 25-13, 25-11, 25-21 victory against Chile, and followed it by beating Argentina 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.

Winless Peru were beaten 25-14, 25-18, 25-9, and Brazil concluded the competition with a 100 per cent record through a 25-19, 25-22, 25-19 triumph over Colombia.

Argentina started with a 25-16, 24-26, 25-23, 25-19 win against Peru, and their other two victories against Chile and Colombia came in straight sets.

Colombia secured their place at the next World Championship for only the second time after their debut last year, ranking third through a 25-10, 26-24, 25-13 victory against Chile and 20-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-20 comeback win against Peru.

Brazil's Gabriela Guimarães was named the most valuable player from the biennial competition.

Brazilian coach José Roberto Guimarães hailed his team's success.

"This South American title is important, mainly because it was won here in Brazil," he said.

"It's been 14 years since we've played the South American Championship here.

"It was a very important competition in preparation for our main target of the season, which is the pre-Olympics, seek options and pace everyone.

"In the pre-Olympics we will have seven games and we will need a large and prepared squad."

The tournament means Brazil, Argentina and Colombia join defending champions Serbia and Kenya, Egypt and Cameroon from the African Championship in securing places at the 2025 World Championship, which are set to feature 32 teams with a host still undecided.
