With 19 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, 21-year old Ineza Sifa was the hero for Rwanda.

Despite a shaky start, the hosts managed to qualify with a 24-10 run after half time proving to be decisive.

"This is historical. It's amazing," Sifa said after the win.

"It's a dream come true for us.

"Nobody has done it before and we did it.

"We will just play and do what we got to do, give it all to reach the Finals.

"We’re out to win it all."

Nigeria too were finding it difficult in the beginning, trailing by four points at half time before staging the comeback.

Amy Okonkwo with 17 points and Elizabeth Balogun with 12 stood out for the Nigerians.

However, it was a team effort with almost every player bagging at least two points.

In quest for their 12th African Championship and first since 2015, Senegal had Cierra Dillard to thank as they edged out Cameroon.

Jessica Thomas led the scoring charts with 22 points with Marina Ewodo and Carine Silatsa adding 14 each but the six assists from Dillard made the difference as they progressed.

Mali meanwhile registered the most dominant victory in the quarter-finals as they outclassed Guinea.

Coming off the bench, Maimouna Haidara managed double digits with 17 points, joining Fatoumata Sanou on 14, Alima Dembele on 10 and Djeneba N'Diaye who bagged 13 points.
