The chairman of the Organising Committee for next year's postponed African Games in Accra was a special guest at a swimming competition held at the University of Ghana.

Kwaku Ofosu-Asare attended the 2023 Ghana Swimming Association National Open Championship and encouraged the swimmers to try and earn a call-up to the national squad.

Ofosu-Asare said Ghana would be counting on swimmers to win medals for the host nation at the African Games, according to the Ghana Olympic Committee.

"The Games coming home for the first time is an opportunity, so you guys must train hard to win gold for Ghana, we are very proud of you and know you can make it," Ofosu-Asare said.

He added the national championship was a chance for swimmers to be exposed to high-level competition.
