The 2023 International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Para World Snowboard Championships has been postponed.

La Molina in Spain was supposed to hold the event this month, but it has been rescheduled from March 9 to 19.

However, the International Federation has decided to postpone the event due to "warm temperatures".

"The unseasonable warm temperatures across much of Central Europe over the holidays have created a current critical snow situation in La Molina, forcing the postponement of the competitions," a statement from FIS said.

"FIS would like to take the opportunity to thank the Organizing Committee (sic) for their flexibility and determination to stage a top World Championship for the Para Snowboard athletes."

FIS however confirmed that the Para Nordic and Alpine World Ski Championships will be held as per schedule.

It is set for January 21 to 29 at the Swedish town of Östersund and Espot in Spain, respectively.

FIS assumed the governance of Para Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboard from the International Paralympic Committee after a formal transfer last year.
