Chusovitina opted to end her career after making a record eighth appearance at the Olympic Games last year when she competed at Tokyo 2020 before reversing her decision in a bid to participate at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

Although the Games in the Chinese city have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chusovitina is aiming to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Chusovitina rolled back the years in Konya today when she triumphed in the women’s vault final with a score of 12,984 points.

The Barcelona 1992 Olympic champion edged out Bilge Tarhan of Turkey who had to settle for silver with 12,884 at the Olympic Velodrome.

Turkey’s Bengisu Yıldız secured bronze with 12,717.

Sevgi Seda Kayısoglu of Turkey secured the uneven bars crown with 12,767, beating compatriot Bengisu Yıldız who registered 12,267 for silver.

Aida Bauyrzhanova of Kazakhstan earned bronze with 11,233.

The floor exercise title was claimed by Aida Bauyrzhanova of Kazakhstan after scoring 12,800.

Ominakhon Khalilova of Uzbekistan sealed silver with 12,500, while Tarhan notched 12,467 for bronze.

Uzbekistan’s Dildora Aripova was crowned balance beam champion after picking up 12,500.

She was followed by Bauyrzhanova with 11,967 and Yıldız with 11,900.

At the Saracoglu Sports Facility where the archery competition took place, Mohd Juwaidi Mazuki of Malaysia claimed men’s compound bow gold as Mohammadsaleh Palizban of Iran sealed silver and Emircan Haney of Turkey bagged bronze.

The women’s compound bow title was won by Geesa Bybordy of Iran, beating two Turkish opponents in Yesim Bostan Ucar and Ayse Bera Suzer who claimed silver and bronze respectively.

There was a Turkish one-two in the women’s recurve bow final, with Yasemın Ecem Anagoz overcoming Gulnaz Busranur Coskun to take gold.

Rezza Octavia of Indonesia completed the podium when she claimed bronze.

Samet Ak ensured there was more success for the hosts in the men’s recurve bow final as he captured the title.

Arif Dwi Pangestu of Indonesia secured silver, while Mete Gazoz of Turkey picked up bronze.

The kickboxing competition also came to a close with Turkey claiming three gold medals.

Among the home champions was Hayriye Hancer Türksoy who defeated Bendass Dhekra of Algeria to win the women’s 48 kilogram full-contact title.

Moroccan Belouarrat Oumaima and Uzbekistan's Gulsanam Amaljonova took the bronze medals.

Emine Arslan triumphed in the women's 52kg full-contact final with victory over Moroccan Asmaa Errakbi.

The bronze medal went to Shirinoy Zohidova of Uzbekistan.

Turkey also won gold in the men’s 51kg full-contact category as Bedirhan Ersayar overcame Jordanian Aseet Aljaafreh in the final.

Amil Mammadov of Azerbaijan and Sherali Musoev of Uzbekistan were the bronze medallists.

Uzbek fighter Mavlonbek Muhammedjonov became the men's 54kg full-contact champion after seeing off Jamal Mammadov of Azerbaijan in the gold-medal match.

Algeria’s Aissaoui Saad and Omargeldi Nurgeldiyev of Turkmenistan received bronze medals.

Seyit Battal Ay of Turkey emerged victorious from the men's 60kg full-contact final, downing Muhye Saleh of Jordan.

Ramiz Mammadov of Azerbaijan and Lazizbek Begmatov of Uzbekistan won the bronze medals.

Farid Aghamoghlanov of Azerbaijan captured the men's 63.5kg full-contact crown after beating Moroccan Oussama Hichou Khalfaoui.

The bronze medals went to Jordanian Aday Almaharmeh and Kazakhstan's Batyrkhan Kuandykov.

Turkey also succeeded in karate, winning the men’s karate team final with 26.86 as Kuwait came second and Iran bagged bronze.

Uzbekistan’s Zulkhumor Tursunalieva won the women’s kumite under-61kg title with victory over Turkey’s Gulbahar Gozutok.

Jordan captured gold thanks to Mohammad Aljafari’s win over Azerbaijan’s Panah Abdullayev in the men’s kumite under-84kg final.

Turkey’s Meltem Hocaoglu Akyol defeated Kazakhstan’s Sofya Berultseva to win women’s kumite over-68kg gold.

İrina Zaretska of Azerbaijan saw off Iran’s Mobina Heydariozomcheloei to clinch the women’s kumite under-68kg crown.

Turkey topped the standings with 341 medals including 145 golds, 107 silvers and 89 bronzes.

Uzbekistan placed second with 158 medals, while Iran picked up 133 to finish third.
