Japan's tournament got off to a perfect start at the Futbol Salou Field 8, with Mai Ohta and  Miyabi Hamada both scoring twice to put them 4-0 in front after 25 minutes.

Ayumi Takemura and Saki Kuroki made it 6-0 to Japan, before María Callejo Arranz grabbed a consolation goal for Spain.

In the second match of the first day of the Women's World Cup, Georgia Beikoff was the star for Australia.

She opened the scoring after just three minutes, and by the eight-minute mark had found the net four times, before adding further efforts in the 26^th and 45^th minutes.

Captain Eloise Northam scored twice, with Lainee Harrison, Katelyn Smith, Charlize Tran and Nicole Christodoulou also on the scoresheet for Australia, who top the standings.

The United States are the other team featuring in the competition, but were not in action today.

They are due to start their tournament tomorrow against Spain, followed by The Netherlands against Japan.

The IFCPF Men's World Cup semi-finals are also scheduled for tomorrow, with Iran facing Brazil and Ukraine taking on the US.
