France’s Manon Moutinho and Italy’s Lorenzo Lupacchini were crowned vaulting champions at the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) World Cup finals in Leipzig.

The Leipziger Messe venue saw Moutinho star in the women’s event, with vaulting competition combining gymnastics and dance on horseback.

Moutinho scored 8,237 points in the technical test on Corrine Bosshard, before receiving 8,624 in the freestyle round.

The average score of 8,431 proved enough to finish top of the final standings.

Reigning champion Janika Derks finished as the runner-up in front of a home crowd, with the German rider making her final appearance at the event.

Derks finished with a total of 8,257 on Rockemotion, having achieved the highest score in the freestyle test.

The podium was completed by the United States' Kimberley Palmer, who was awarded 8,009 for her performances on Rosenstolz 99.

The men’s event saw Lupacchini triumph on the same horse.

Lupacchini scored 8,489 in the technical test to lie second in the standings, before receiving 9,101 for the freestyle performance to rise to first place.

The Italian ended the competition with a score of 8,795.

France’s Lambert Leclezio and Germany’s Jannik Heiland completed the podium places on 8,628 and 8,019, after their displays on Saitiri and Rockemotion, respectively.

The Pas de Deux competition saw Derks and Johannes Kay complete their vaulting careers in style, winning with a score of 8,836.

Romana Hintner and Eva Nagiller of Austria were second on 8,016, followed by Germany’s Justin van Gerven and Patric Looser on 7,960.

The dressage competition saw Jessica von Bredow-Werndl triumph in front of a home crowd.

The German rider achieved an overall score of 90.836 per cent for the performance on TSF Dalera BB.

Denmark’s Cathrine Dufour finished second on Vamos Amigos, ending the competition on 86.164.

Isabell Werth finished third on her retiring horse Weihegold OLD, ending on 85.921.
