Organisers of the Yekaterinburg 2023 Summer World University Games have signed a partnership agreement with entrepreneurs in the Sverdlovsk Region which it is claimed will improve the effectiveness of business during the event.

The Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry also signed the agreement.

The signing came at the annual Innoprom exhibition in Yekaterinburg, and the agreement sees the formation of the 2023 FISU World University Games Business Council, which will represent businesspeople. 

"We are all here united by the understanding of the importance of this project for the region," said Andrey Besedin, President of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"All of the Ural businesses should not only be proud of the opportunity to host the 2023 FISU (International University Sports Federation) World University Games but also benefit from it.

"Moreover, our enterprises and our entrepreneurs are more than capable of it."

The Sverdlovsk Regional Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Sverdlovsk's regional branch of Business Russia and its regional branch of Support of Russia all signed the agreement too.

"The agreement we have signed today underlines that FISU World University Games are our common endeavour," added Yekaterinburg 2023 general director Alexander Chernov.

"It is impossible to tackle it without help from the Ural businesses.

"At the same time, we understand that the region's business communities are well-positioned to satisfy Games organisers' most demanding requests in all aspects."

The Yekaterinburg 2023 Summer World University Games are scheduled to take place from August 8 to 19 in 2023.

Chengdu is China is due to hold the next edition of the event, which has been delayed until 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
