The Lesotho Taekwondo Association (LTA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been called off again due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The meeting was scheduled to be held on January 15, but LTA spokesperson Sekhokhe Molikoe told the Metro it had now been postponed "indefinitely".

The decision comes after the suspension of all sporting activities in Lesotho as part of a nationwide lockdown.

Coronavirus cases in Lesotho rose sharply at the beginning of this month, reportedly due to the number of workers returning home from South Africa for Christmas.

Lesotho has recorded 8,649 cases and 164 deaths from coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

The AGM was originally scheduled to be held in March last year before being called off after Lesotho went into its first nationwide shutdown following the outbreak of the virus.

Greetings everyone, LTA wishes everyone safe lock down. Please please stay at home. Convid-19 is real please take care...

There were plans to hold the AGM in November only for those to be scuppered when members of the Khubetsoana Taekwondo Club took the LTA to court.

According to the Metro, the high court ordered the LTA to compile a new list of taekwondo clubs that would be able to participate in the AGM while excluding those whose memberships had been terminated.

The list will be submitted to the Lesotho and Recreation Commission and the Lesotho National Olympic Committee.

"The AGM will amend that clause and consider the orders given by the court in accordance with LTA Constitution and the Congress will also resolve as to when the elections will next be held," Molikoe added.
