The tournament, which exclusively features player playing in African domestic leagues, was postponed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Competition was originally scheduled to take place from April 4 to 25 in Cameroon.

CAF also announced the fourth substitution rule in the event of extra time at the knockout stages of the competitions will be applied.

The CAF Executive Committee decided the 2022 African Nations Championship in Algeria will now be moved to January 2023, with dates set to be finalised with the Algerian Football Federation.

The CAF Executive Committee confirmed further details for the inaugural Women’s Champions League, which will feature qualifiers in the six CAF zones to determine the finalists for the eight-team tournament.

CAF said the breakdown will be one team from each zone, one team from the host country and one additional team.

For the maiden edition the host country will have two representatives, with subsequent competitions seeing one host representative and the defending champion taking part.

The eight qualified teams will be drawn into two groups of four teams, followed by a knockout stage.

The competition will be held annually and during the second half of the year.

CAF also confirmed the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is expected to take place in July 2022, while Senegal has been named as host of this year’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.

The finalists will represent Africa at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia next year.

CAF is also seeking hosts for the 2021 and 2022 Women’s Champions League, as well as the 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.

Hosts for the Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations competitions in 2023 are being sought, as well as for the 2021, 2022 and 2023 CAF Champions League Final and CAF Confederation Cup Final.

CAF also confirmed its 2020 General Assembly is expected to take place on December 11 in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, with Tanzania listed as a reserve option.

Should the situation with coronavirus not improve, the General Assembly will be held by videoconference.

The elective General Assembly in 2021 is expected to be held on March 12 in Morocco’s capital Rabat.

Candidates for the CAF Presidency and Executive Committee will have to meet a deadline of November 12.

The candidates will be announced on January 11.
