THE format of the Modern Pentathlon is to be changed for London 2012 after the sport's governing body voted to combine the disciplines of shooting and running into one event.

Tickets have gone on sale for the 2009 Modern Pentathlon World Championships, which take place at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London from August 13-17, it was announced today.

AUGUST 22 - BRITAIN maintained its remarkably consistent record in the Modern Pentathlon since the event was added to the Olympic programme for women when Heather Fell (pictured) won a silver medal.

JULY 1 - BRITAIN look set to have a male competitor in the Modern Pentathlon at the Olympics for the first time since 1996 after winning a controversial appeal that has led to a gold medallist being kicked out of the Beijing Games.

June 27 - Britain’s Heather Fell (pictured) won a silver medal in  the Modern Pentathlon European Championships silver medal in Leipzig today and helped Britain win the team gold medals.

OCTOBER 6 - CRYSTAL PALACE has been chosen by the Union International de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) as the venue for the 2009 World Championships, it was announced today. The event is expected to give the sport a massive boost during the build-up to the 2012 Olympics.
