do-you-know
insidethegames.biz has been reporting LIVE from the World Judo Championships in Tokyo as judo comes home?

Coverage started on Sunday from the famous Nippon Budokan, originally built for the judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics, with Matthew Smith capturing every minute on our LIVE BLOG.

So far, the Championships has lived up with expectations with the winners including Ukraine’s Daria Bilodid, who retained her under-48 kilograms title to win the first gold medal of the Championships – at the tender age of only 18.

Japan, as expected, have so far been the successful country with their winners including the returning Shohei Ono winning the gold medal in the men's under-73 kilogram category – laying down an important marker for next year’s Olympic Games in this same venue in the Japanese capital.
LIVE BLOG coverage will continue until the end of the Championships on Sunday September 1 and feature the mixed team event on the final day. It is an event with added significance as it is due to make its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020.

The LIVE BLOG refreshes automatically, so you can be sure you won't miss out on the great moments of judo's flagship event.
