Los Angeles 2028 is holding its first annual summer programme LA Celebrates, across the region as part of the build-up to the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Celebrations with sports teams, fan festivals and Olympic and Paralympic themed youth events are all on the agenda for this year’s summer programme of sport, community and culture, due to take place between June 18 and 30.

On June 18, LA28 is set to have a booth at CicLAvia, an event in which the streets of South Los Angeles are closed to traffic and open so individuals can jog, ride, bike, skate, run or walk on the route at their own pace.

LA28’s booth at CicLAvia is set to feature prizes, games and giveaways.

LA28 is set to have stands on the sidelines of some top sporting fixtures throughout the month.

The first two are a Major League Soccer fixture between Los Angeles Galaxy and Kansas City at Dignity Health Sports Park on June 21 and a Women’s National Basketball Association encounter between Los Angeles Sparks and Dallas Wings on June 23 at the Crypto.com Arena.

LA28 is then also set to have a stand at a Major League Baseball game between Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros on June 25 at Dodger Stadium, and a National Women’s Soccer League fixture on the same date between Angel City and Houston Dash at the BMO Stadium.

Other events as part of LA Celebrates are The Rooftop Cinema Club on June 24, which offers a mix of sports stations and giveaways before an open-air film viewing experience, featuring sporting offerings D2: The Mighty Ducks, Kicking & Screaming and Love & Basketball.

LA28 is also hosting events as part of its Olympic and Paralympic Day of Sport, to coincide with National Olympic and Paralympic Day on June 23.

These are set to take the form of coaching camps across ten different youth centres with Olympic and Paralympic themed activities for youngsters.

LA Celebrates is also set to an LA 2028 stand at Smorgasburg in the city on June 25, a large open air market for businesses specialising in food, drink and shopping, with Olympians and Paralympians set to be present to meet and chat with visitors.

Finally as part of LA Celebrates, LA 2028 is set to have a presence at the Angel City Games, Southern California’s showpiece adaptive sports event set to be held from June 29 to July 2.

An outdoor celebrity wheelchair basketball game featuring Olympians and Paralympians is set to be among the attractions at the Games, which also includes adaptive sport clinics and competitions.

The LA 2028 Olympics is due to be held from July 14 to 30, with the LA 2028 Paralympics due to follow from August 15 to 27.
