Bányik and Katz played together in a successful men's doubles effort, winning both knockout ties in straight sets before repeating the feat 12-3, 12-6 in the final against Hungary's Mátyás Odnoga and Poland's Bartłomiej Frańczuk.

Four-time world champion Ádám Blázsovics and fellow Hungarian Martin Csereklye took third by beating Colombia's Jose Ricardo Oviedo Amortegui and Joshua Bello 12-9, 12-6.

The United States held hopes of a home gold through singles world champion Carolyn Greco and Osmundson in the women's doubles after they beat the world champions Janicsek and Vasas 12-10, 12-10 in the semi-finals.

However, they were beaten in three sets 12-11, 9-12, 12-8 by the new pairing of Kinga Barabási from Romania and Hungary's Petra Péchy.

Janicsek and Vasas salvaged a bronze with a 12-8, 11-12, 12-6 win against Julian and Spain's Anna Gómez Vila.
