The European University Sports Association (EUSA) pledged its continued support for Ukraine as its Executive Committee met in-person for the first time this year in Split.

Officials in the Croatian city heard that a solidarity fund which supports Ukrainian participation at events had been opened again, and there will also be support from several organisers of the 2023 European Universities Championships and from national university sports associations.

A number of measures taken by EUSA in March 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine will also remain in place.

These include a ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes, and no EUSA events will be organised in either country until further notice.

Members of EUSA Committees, Commissions and working groups from Russia and Belarus will not be called upon for future EUSA meetings and activities.

The governing body confirmed that it would not adopt the concept of neutral athletes this year.

Other topics on the agenda in Split included progress reports on the 2024 European Universities Games in Debrecen-Miskolc in Hungary and the 2026 edition in Salerno in Italy.

The bidding process for 2028, where there is potential interest from four countries, was also covered as well as a report on the 2023 European Universities Championships, where record participation is expected.

The inaugural European Universities Winter Sports Championship will be held in December in Val di Zoldo, Italy, with registration open until June.

EUSA also awarded its 2025 General Assembly to Croatia's capital Zagreb.
