African Taekwondo Union (AFTU) President Issaka Ide has congratulated Egypt for hosting three tournaments during February.

An international taekwondo championship, a Para-taekwondo event and the President's Cup were all held in the country.

"We would like to congratulate you for the great organisation of the three competitions," an AFTU letter said.

"AFTU thanks you for your commitment and hospitality towards all the delegations present in Egypt.

"You have succeeded in showing professionalism and also to take advantage of the athletes of a very rich tray both on the technical level but also on the quality of your technicians.

"We will not fail to testify our satisfaction and thanks to World Taekwondo." 

Ide, from Niger, is also a World Taekwondo vice-president and the head of his country's National Olympic Committee.

Egypt won two taekwondo bronze medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Hedaya Malak bagged a medal in the women's 67 kilograms and Seif Eissa did so in the men's 80kg.
