Perrine Laffont of France produced her fifth consecutive win of the season but had to settle for second place overall in the women’s single moguls standings at the Freestyle Ski Moguls & World Cup finals in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The 24-year-old from Lavelanet, who earned Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic gold and secured her second individual world title in Bakuriani, Georgia earlier this season, was consistently unbeatable on the opening day of the finals.

After producing the highest score of the day in F1 she backed it up with another dominating performance in the super final at the Shymbulak Ski Resort.

But she finished in second place overall in the women's single moguls behind Australia's Beijing 2022 champion Jakara Anthony, who secured a third World Cup title despite choosing not to contest the finals following a disappointing performance in the World Championships.

Second spot on the day went to Jaelin Kauf of the United States, who finished third overall in the women’s single moguls standings, while her teammate Tess Johnson rounded out the podium in third place.

Laffont will now be focusing on the dual moguls and the overall moguls standings as she looks ahead to this weekend’s competition.

Meanwhile Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury produced his seventh win of the season as he underlined his position as the men’s single moguls World Cup champion.

After securing the 22nd Crystal Globe of his career in February at Deer Valley, the King of Moguls came into today’s competition with no pressure.

He left all opposition far behind in the super final, keeping his composure clean through the bumps and producing a spectacular cork 720 truck driver at the bottom air, which he performed for the very first time in competition.

Kingsbury’s final total was 540 points, and he also secured the overall Moguls World Cup Crystal Globe in the process.

Now he only needs one more solid result in the dual moguls to take everything there is to win on the 2022-2023 World Cup tour and repeat his moguls hat-trick from last year.

Second place on the day went to home skier Pavel Kolmakov, who stepped things up a notch after a heartbreaking performance at the World Championships in Georgia, where he finished in fourth in both moguls and dual moguls competitions.

Matt Graham of Australia took bronze, finishing the moguls campaign in the second overall spot, earning 336 points after six competitions staged in 2022-2023.

Ikuma Horishima of Japan finished the season in third place in the moguls World Cup standing.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation event continues tomorrow with the sixth and final dual moguls competition.
