After Nowy Targ, Zakopane and Tarnów the flag of the Kraków-Malopolska 2023 European Games has reached the town of Krynica-Zdrój.

With Poland set to stage the European Games from June 21 to July 2, Krynica-Zdrój Mayor Piotr Ryba received a flag, with Organising Committee chief Marcin Nowak, Marshal of Małopolska Voivodeship Witold Kozłowski and Deputy Mayor of Krynica-Zdrój Pawel Maślanka present at the handover ceremony at the Municipal Office.

Krynica-Zdrój will play host to mountain biking on Hill Park, with taekwondo and judo competitions set to be held in Krynica-Zdrój Arena.

All three competitions will also serve as qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

"Krynica-Zdrój will be permanently inscribed in the history of the Olympic movement," Kozlowski said.

"I think the city will gain a lot, especially in terms of additional promotion.

"Our common goal is to bring the whole of Małopolska into the salons of European regions, and for this we need to use the powerful promotional move and broadcast the entire event to 40 European countries."

Nowak praised the facilities at Krynica-Zdrój and said "every Pole knows about" the region and that it will be "certainly talked about after the European Games".

Meanwhile, Ryba said contacts have been signed for the renovation of the Krynica-Zdrój Arena and the track on Hill Park.

"On Friday we open the tender for the construction of the MTB XCO track," Ryba said.

"This is a great opportunity for our city."
