European Para Championships BV, founder of the European Para Championships, is seeking for a host city for the second edition of the event.

Rotterdam in The Netherlands is set to host the inaugural edition from August 8 to 20 this year but organisers have already launched the official host city appointment process for the 2027 European Para Championships.

European Para Championships BV have claimed that some countries have shown interest already in recent months but "there is room for additional applicants to come forward".

"The fact that there are already several countries and cities with serious interest in this parasports event, despite the fact that the inaugural edition will only take place this summer, is obviously very encouraging," Eric Kersten, founder of the European Para Championship, said.

"Now that we have also started the formal procedure for 2027, I expect more applicants to follow soon.

"Eventually, we will end up with the best conceivable host for the second edition of this unique multisport event."

A representative from the European Paralympic Committee will assist the European Para Championships BV with the appointment process.

All interested cities will be invited to Rotterdam for the official Observer Programme of the 2023 event to understand the role the host city plays in promoting and developing Para sport in general.

Countries should submit their bid to host the 2027 European Para Championships by the end of 2023.

The European Para Championships is set to be a regular event on the calendar, preceding the Paralympics, and the organisers are focusing on a sustainable concept for the future editions.
