France claimed the 4x6 kilometres biathlon mixed relay gold on the final day of the 2023 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, that helped them top the overall medals table.

The country won 17 medals - seven gold, six silver and four bronze - in total to finish the event on high.

Hosts Italy finished second with 21 medals overall but got only six gold medals while Switzerland were the third-best nation with 12 overall and six gold medals.

France claimed the biathlon gold in 1hour 17.11min.

The race was a close one with Germany finishing agonisingly close in 1:17:12.5 to bag the silver medal.

The bronze medal went to hosts Italy, posting a time of 1:17:34.3.

The final day of the 2023 EYOF saw Laura Huber of Switzerland win gold in the girls' super-G Alpine skiing event.

She took the title, clocking 1min 05.32sec.

Silver medal went to Nadine Hundegger of Austria, who finished 0.63sec later.

For the hosts, Tatum Bieler bagged the bronze, with a time of 1:05.99.

In the boys' super-G, Hungarian Attila Banyai flourished in 1:03.75.

Norwegian Rasmus Bakkevig was the second best and finished 0.04 later for the silver medal.

Moritz Zudrell of Austria settled for bronze, clocking 1:03.84.
