Jordanian official Nasser Majali has been appointed as the secretary general of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF).

Majali is the secretary general of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) and will now hold the same position with the ISSF as he replaces Muhammad Al-Qarnas.

The appointment was announced at a meeting chaired by ISSF President Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal on January 11.

Al-Faisal thanked Al-Qarnas for his efforts as ISSF secretary general.

Majali was appointed as secretary general of the JOC in October 2016 following an extensive business and management career in both education and practice over the previous 18 years.

He has worked across multiple sectors including IT, trading, financial services and non-governmental organisations.

As well as his role with the JOC, Majali is a member of the International Olympic Committee Marketing Committee, a member of the Olympic Council of Asia Sport Commission and has been on the ISSF Executive Board.

The ISSF runs the Islamic Solidarity Games which are staged every four years.
