Following a thrilling 26-24 win over co-hosts Poland in the opener, France secured a more convincing victory over Saudi Arabia this time, with a scoreline of 41-23.

Right wing Yanis Lenne and centre back Kentin Mahe top scored for France, with eight and six goals respectively.

Meanwhile, Slovenia handed Poland their second defeat, despite playing in front of 11,000 fans home fans.

Slovenia won 32-23 while Montenegro pipped Iran 34-31.  

Janc stood out for Slovenia with six goals while Milos Vujovic starred with a 10-goal performance for Montenegro.

Sweden enjoyed another win, beating Cape Verde 34-27 while Hungary made it to the next round after getting the better of Iceland 30-28.

The day also saw Brazil come out on top in an all-South-American clash.

After losing their first match, they were pitted against ling-time rivals Uruguay who are also yet to win in the tournament.

Having won all their games against Uruguay, Brazil added one more victory to their head-to-head record by beating them 35-24.

Rudolph Hackbarth became the top scorer for Brazil with seven goals, including five penalty shots.

However, goalkeeper Leonardo Tercariol was named Man of the Match after a superb performance that ended with a 41 per cent save rate.

Portugal celebrated their first win with a 32-34 win over South Korea while Spain beat Chile 34-26.
