Bø won the first five races of the season before he was beaten in the men’s 12.5 kilometres pursuit at Le Grand-Bornand before Christmas.

The Norwegian returned to the top of the podium as he triumphed in the men’s 10km sprint in a time of 23min 55.9sec.

Norway claimed a clean sweep in the event, with Johannes’ brother Tarjei Bø in second place in 24:44.0, and Sturla Holm Laegreid third with 24:51.5.

Despite Johannes’ Bø earning a penalty, he produced an impressive display of skiing on soft snow to win by 48.1 seconds.

Tarjei Bø moved up to second after a clean display in the standing part of the shooting, while Laegreid finished well to complete the podium, ending 55.6 seconds behind Johannes Bø.

Today marked the seventh time in World Cup races that the Bø brothers finished one-two on the podium, with Johannes finishing in the top spot on six of those occasions.

Speaking after the race Tarjei Bo said: “Johannes has been first in most of them, six so at least I have one”.

“I joke about it. He should have never been born and then I would have six more World Cup victories.

“I just have to deal with him like the rest of the world.”

Bø leads the overall World Cup standings with 689 points, with Laegreid in second place with 625, and France’s Emilien Jacquelin on 319.

Two races are scheduled tomorrow at the Pokljuka Sport Center, with the women’s 10km pursuit set to be followed by the men’s 12.5km pursuit.
