Brazil won five gold medals in the singles disciplines at the Pan American Para Badminton Championships in Bogota, Colombia.

In the men’s events Brazil was guaranteed a champion in the WH1 category, with Marcelo Alves Conceicao beating compatriot Rodolfo Cano 21-14, 21-13.

In the SL4 category Rogerio Junior Xavier De Oliveira was another Brazilian victor, defeating Maximiliano Avila Sosa of Mexico 21-12, 21-12.

Chile’s Jaime Aranguiz won the WH2 category, defeating Brazil’s Julio Cesar Godoy 21-14, 21-14.

In the SL3 category, Canada’s William Roussy overcame Peru’s Pedro Pablo De Vinatea 21-15, 19-21, 24-22 in a thrilling tussle that lasted just over an hour.

In the SH6 Miles Krajewski of the United States ran out a 21-16, 21-16 winner over Peru’s Nilton Quispe Ignacio.

There was another exciting three-game contest in the final of the SU5 category, as Manuel Alejandro Del Rosario Pargas of Cuba overcame Yuki Roberto Rodrigues of Brazil 21-19, 19-21, 21-17.

In the women’s singles categories Brazil continued to dominate, with the SL3 title going to Adriane Spinetti Avila, who overcame compatriot Abinaecia Maria Da Silva 21-11, 21-5.

The WH1 category was also an all Brazilian affair, with Daniele Torres Souza beating countrywoman Ana Gomes 21-16, 21-16.

The nation continued to dominate the women’s singles classifications, with the SL4 title going to Ana Carolina Coutinho Reis, who overcame another Brazilian Edwarda De Oliveira Dias 21-14, 21-14.

In the WH2 category, the Brazilian domination was halted by Pilar Jaurequi Cancino, with the Peruvian defeating Maria Gilda Dos Santos Domingues Antunes of Brazil 21-11, 21-7.    

Finally, in the SU5 category, an all-Peru encounter saw Diana Rojas Golac overcame Kelly Edith Ari Escalante 21-10, 21-18.
