World Archery has entered a partnership with technology company StreamViral, and is set to launch an online streaming platform in early 2023.

The archery+ service is due to cover Archery World Cups, World Championships and Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers in countries and territories which do not fall under World Archery's rights deals.

Features, documentaries, educational resources and other exclusive content is also set to be made available through archery+.

World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen believes that archery+ will improve the sport's offerings to fans.

"World Archery’s foray into the OTT [over-the-top] space is another milestone in the sport’s development as a fan-focused entertainment product," he said.

"This project with StreamViral will develop an exclusive digital space for archery content - whether it’s produced by World Archery or not - and a valuable resource for our growing worldwide audience."

StreamViral co-founder and chief technology officer Isobelle Benge said the company is excited to develop the service with World Archery.

"We are delighted to work with World Archery and use our broadcast and marketing experience to help the federation grow its new brand," she said.

Benge added: "Our aim is to build a channel that appeals to the fan base and enhances the sport’s engagement and popularity."

Archery+ is initially set to use a "freemium" model with advertising, in which optional additional features can be bought on top of the free version.
