The Asian Teqball Tour event scheduled to take place in Dubai next month has been postponed until March 2023 by organisers Telemice Events without explanation.

The event was set to be played from December 15 to 18, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup in nearby Qatar, but new dates are set to be released later this month.

It was due to take place in cooperation with the Fankeepers Festival at Burj Park in the Emirati city and was expected to be "an exciting celebration of sport and entertainment".

Telemice and the International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) are set to refund athletes who had paid to compete.

The pair will provide refunds and recovery fees provided they are shown official booking papers and emails.

FITEQ has also stated that it "will refund 100 per cent of costs" for athletes who do not want to participate in the rescheduled event, although this it only applies to costs associated with flights, accommodation, and transfers.

"FITEQ would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this postponement and look forward to welcoming Teqball athletes and fans to Dubai at a new date in March 2023," read a FITEQ statement.

The postponement of the Asian Teqball Tour leg leaves the World Championships as the only international event left on the calendar this year.

It is due to take place in Nuremberg in Germany from the 23rd to 27th of this month with tournaments contested in men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
