The New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) has unveiled its first "Olympic House", which is a part of a partnership with Jennian Homes, as it seeks to raise funds to help athletes reach Paris 2024.

The home in Christchurch - like three more - will be acquired by the NZOC and sold, with the proceeds going to the Olympic team.

It is also based near the Ngā Puna Wai high-performance centre.

A second house, which is close to the Cambridge Velodrome, is currently under construction.

NZOC commercial director Sharon Van Gulik told the Otago Daily Times that the programme was created with Jennian Homes as a way of supporting athletes alongside increasing brand value for both organisations.

The NZOC and Jennian Homes have been partnered since 2016.

Hamish Kerr, who won a high jump gold medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and bronze at the Belgrade 2022 World Indoor Championships, praised the project to the Dunedin-based newspaper.

"It costs money, it costs a lot of money," he said, per the Otago Daily Times.

"And so to have amazing partners like Jennian Homes to do cool things like this for the campaign, it really, really adds value, and it's very essential."
