The line-up for the quarter-finals of the men’s Sitting Volleyball World Championship has been completed following today’s cross-pool round of games.

Holders Iran will face the United States in the last eight, with Iran continuing their record of not yet dropping a set in the tournament, after beating Japan 25-5, 25-18, 25-9.

The US battled to victory over Iraq in their cross-pool match, winning 25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 21-25, 15-9.

Hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina set up a quarter-final with Kazakhstan after winning their cross-pool match 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 against Croatia at the Hotel Hills Arena in Sarajevo.

Kazakhstan were also victors in their cross-pool match beating Serbia 25-19, 25-10, 25-15.

Egypt will take on Germany in the last eight after both nations won in the cross-pool stage, with Egypt beating Poland 25-19, 25-11, 25-12 and Germany overcoming the Netherlands 25-10, 25-10, 25-14.

The remaining quarter-final sees Brazil face Ukraine, with both nations also winning in the cross-pool stage, with Brazil beating Rwanda 25-21, 25-14, 25-10, and Ukraine overcoming Canada 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24.

The sides not involved in the quarter-finals will feature in a series of classification matches to determine places five to 16.

In the women’s event, the final pool stage matches took place, with four fixtures in Pool A.

There was double success for Rwanda who overcame Ukraine 10-25, 25-23, 25-21, 16-25, 15-9, before beating Hungary 25-14, 25-18, 21-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered two losses in the pool, being beaten by Hungary 25-11, 25-12, 25-20 and then by Poland 25-19, 25-11, 25-14.

In the day’s only Pool B match, three-time runners-up the United States won 25-12, 25-15, 25-17 against Slovenia.

In the day’s only Pool C contest, Brazil defeated Finland 25-13, 25-11, 25-15.

A cross-pool round of matches is due to take place tomorrow to determine the quarter-final line-up.
