Cape Verde's team for the upcoming Teqball World Championships in Germany has been decided following the culmination of the country's inaugural national championships which featured 30 athletes from the different islands.

Sidnei Silva secured his place in the travelling delegation after winning the men's singles title against Rodirley Duarte, while Ekson da Graça completed the podium with a bronze-medal finish.

Duarte and Da Graça recovered from their defeats to combine for the men's pairs gold medal while Samira Bettencourt and Bruno Évora won the mixed doubles tournament.

Teqball featured as a demonstration sport at the first African Beach Games in 2019 which was hosted by Cape Verde.

Da Graça and Duarte also podiumed in the competition as they finished third behind Cameroon's Hubert Noah Essomba and Gregory Tchami-Djomaha and Nigerians Thankgod Adindu and Emmanuel Nwabueze in first and second respectively.

President of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee Filomena Fortes is also on the International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) Executive Board following her election in December 2021.

Nuremberg is set to host the World Championships from November 23 to 27, making it the first German host of the competition.

There are set to be five categories in the event - men's and women's singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.
