Britain's 17-time Paralympic gold medallist Sarah Storey has returned from injury and is looking to defend her title at the upcoming Para Cycling Track World Championships in the French commune of Montigny-le-Bretonneux.

The event is set to run from tomorrow until October 23 at the Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Storey was ruled out of the Para Cycling Road World Championships in Canada earlier this year after she suffered a crash during a World Cup event that left her with broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung and concussion symptoms.

The 44-year-old is aiming to retain her women's C5 individual pursuit gold medal.

In the men's events, Slovenia's Jozef Metelka is set to compete and will look to continue his brilliant form from the last World Championships in Canada two years ago.

The triple Paralympic champion won gold in the men's C4 individual pursuit, scratch race and omnium.

Samantha Bosco leads an 11-strong American team heading to France.

The 35-year-old is enjoying one of the strongest seasons of her career as she won both time trial and road race golds at this year's Para Cycling Road World Championships in Canada as well as the WC4 overall World Cup title on the road.

Australia also boast a promising line-up with five reigning champions on their roster in the form of Emily Petricola, Amanda Reid, David Nicholas, Paige Greco and Alistair Donohoe.

Petricola is the pick of the bunch after winning three titles in 2020 in the women's C4 individual pursuit, omnium and scratch race.

The Championships will begin with the omnium across the five men's and five women's C classifications before time trial, individual pursuit, scratch and team sprint events also take place.
