The eight-day event was held as part of a Hangzhou 2022 campaign in the build-up to the multi-sport competition, with 147 athletes from 14 teams, including China's national side, participating for medals.

It was the first time a national event had been staged at the Yellow Dragon Sports Centre since its renovation for the Asian Games.

The Yellow Dragon Gymnasium, which seats around 6,000 people, is due to host gymnastics competition come Hangzhou 2022, while water polo is due to be staged in the complex's aquatics venue which can welcome 2,000 people.

Football matches, including the semi-finals and finals, are planned to come to the 52,000-seat main stadium within the Yellow Dragon complex.

The West Lake International Golf Course, the venue for golf at Hangzhou 2022, also held a three-day event in preparation for the Games.

Families were able to camp at the golf course and learn about the sport, according to the Organising Committee.

In total, 54 competitions venues are slated to be used for the Asian Games, facilitating a sports programme that features 42 sports and 482 medal events.

Hangzhou 2022 is scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 8 2023, after it was postponed earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions still in place in China.

China has held the Asian Games twice before, in Guangzhou and Beijing in 2010 and 1990.
