The Duluth Curling Club in Minnesota is set to host the playdown for the Lake Placid 2023 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games, which will decide the teams that represent the United States.

The qualification phase is scheduled to be held from October 21 to 23 this year.

"Duluth Curling Club enjoys holding national level events that showcase the talents of athletes in the United States," Joe Polo, a Board member of the Duluth Curling Club, said.

"The World University Games is an event that brings a young enthusiasm that we love to see in the sport and the event will be a great way to kick off the club’s season."

Curling, which is scheduled to stage both the men’s and women’s division, is one of nine compulsory sports for the winter edition of the competition.

Twelve sports are to be played across Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, North Creek, Wilmington, Canton and Potsdam.

Lake Placid 2023 is set to be held between January 12 and 22 with more than 2,500 participants from an excess of 50 countries expected to take part.
