The University of Pristina won the men's tournament in front of jubilant home fans at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) University World Cup Handball in Kosovo's capital.

The University of Pristina beat Kangwon University out of South Korea 33-30 in the final.

The University of Castilla-La Mancha won bronze.

A team from the Korea National Sports University won a less tight women's final against a University of Castilla-La Mancha side.

The Spaniards were on the wrong end of a 32-22 scoreline.

Women's bronze was won by the University of Pristina.

Eight men's and six women's teams took part in the event, which has been heralded as a landmark occasion for Kosovo as one of its first international sporting competitions hosted.

"Our dream for this cup started two years ago," FISU World University Handball Cup executive director Musa Selimi said.

"The dream came true.

"During these seven days we had the opportunity, not only to be the host of this cup but also to show the world our culture, tradition and values."
