Japanese skater Toa Sasaki topped qualification in the men's event today at the World Street Skateboarding Pro Tour leg in Rome, setting up well in one of the first competitions where ranking points for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games can be attained.

He scored 78.64 to top the standings, making the cut of 27 athletes.

Mauro Iglesias of Argentina was second with 75.26 points, while Kairi Netsuke, also from Japan, scored 72.59.

Brazilians Gabryel Aguilar and Filipe Mota also scored over 70 points in fourth and fifth, while Australian Shane O'Neill was sixth.

Completing the top 10 were Japan's Aoki Yukito, Brazil's Joao Lucas Alves, South Korea's Jeong Ji-hoon and Hampus Winberg of Sweden.

The only home representation to come in the men's final is Agustin Aquila of Italy, who finished 20th.

Both the women's and men's quarter-finals are set for tomorrow, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday (July 2) and the finals on Sunday (July 3).

Rizu Akama and Coco Yoshizawa of Japan were in the top two in women's qualifying yesterday.
