His victory was one of five medals picked up by the Georgian team, putting them as current leaders in the overall standings. 

Nozadze defeated fellow countrymen Giorgi Sardalashvili in the men's under-60kg category to win his second career Grand Slam gold, after victory at the same venue in 2021. 

Giorgi Tutashvili won Georgia's silver medal after being defeated by Moldova's Denis Vieru in the men's under-66kg final. 

In the same weight category, Vazha Margvelashvili took home the bronze for Georgia alongside Ryoma Tanaka after his victory over Wilian Lima in the repechage. 

Georgia's second bronze medal of the day was won by Eteri Liparteliani, who overcame Veronica Toniolo of Italty in the women's under-57kg repechage. 

South Korea's Mimi Huh won gold in the category for a first career Grand Slam gold and her country's only medal of the day. 

Second in the overall standings are France, with Clement Legoux's victory in the women's under-48kg category being one of three medals so far.

The fifth and final gold of the day up for grabs was the women's under-52kg category, in which Distria Krasniqi of Kosovo bested Hungary's Reka Pupp to earn her third career Grand Slam gold and ninth career medal. 

Action at the Tbilisi Grand Slam 2022, which has 278 competitors from 36 countries, is set to conclude on June 5.
