The South Korean men’s team, consisting of Kim Jong-ho, Choi Yong-hee and Yang Jae-won, bettered Denmark while India’s Avneet Kaur, Muskan Kirar and Priya Gurjar edged Turkey in the women’s event.

World champions Kim, Choi and Yang entered the competition as top seeds but fell to defeat to India in a closely contested semi-final which they lost via shoot-off following a points tally tie of 233.

India’s Abhishek Verma, Aman Saini and Rajat Chauhan totalled 29 as South Korea tallied 26.

The other semi-final saw Denmark’s Mathias Fullerton, Martin Damsbo and Stephan Hansen lose 231-230 to France’s Adrien Gontier, Jean Philippe Boulch and Quentin Baraer.

In the men's bronze medal match South Korea responded the better, forcing Denmark to equal the current world record to be victorious.

The final score was 238-229 in South Korea’s favour, making it the first circuit medal they have won on home soil since 2007.

In the women’s bronze medal match, the contest between India and Turkey’s Ayse Bera Suzer, Yeşim Bostan and Songül Lök was tight throughout.

Not much could split the two teams and India ended the match having scored one point more in a contest which finished 232-231.

South Korea are on course for another medal on home soil winning their semi-final against India 230-228.

Kim Yun-hee, Oh Yooh-yun and Song Yun-soo are expected to meet the Estonian triumvirate of Lisell Jäätma, Meeri-Marita Paas and Maris Tetsmann following their 224-223 win over Turkey in their semi-final encounter.

The two compound finals are due to be contested on Saturday (May 21).
