The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan has held a technical course for coaches ©UOC

The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan (UOC) and the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan have conducted a technical course for coaches under the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Solidarity programme.

The technical course, which took place in Tashkent between April 10 and 20, was led by Evgeny Shumarin and attended by 24 trainers from different regions of the country. 

The main purpose was to boost their knowledge in order to increase the number of athletes from Uzbekistan qualifying for major international competitions. 

A ceremony marking the conclusion of the course, which took place in the conference hall of the UOC, was attended by the secretary general Oybek Kasimov, secretary general of the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan, Kamoliddin Ruzimukhamedov, and all the coaches involved in the project.

During the event, Kasimov highlighted the importance of the course and congratulated the participants on its successful execution.

Seven track and field athletes from Uzbekistan qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo last year.

A further 16 track and field campaigners represented Uzbekistan in the Paralympics, winning nine medals - five of them gold.
