The logo of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Odisha Men’s World Cup has been revealed by Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium.

The tournament is due to take place between January 13 and 29 next year in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha capital, and Rourkela.

This will be the second time the Indian state has hosted the tournament, as it was the venue in 2018 when Belgium won its first World Cup title.

"We are thrilled that there will be two venues this time - Bhubaneswar and Rourkela," Patnaik said.

"The 2018 FIH Men’s World Cup gave us all memories that we still cherish to this day and the 2023 FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup will be even more exciting and unforgettable.

"Odisha looks forward to welcoming global hockey fans and top teams from across the world to participate in the prestigious tournament."

The 2023 version is scheduled to be the 15th instalment of the competition and it will involve India’s largest hockey venue the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium.

The venue, which is currently being constructed in Rourkela, is anticipated to be able to seat 20,000 people.

Holders Belgium secured their debut World Cup crown after beating The Netherlands 3-2 in the penalty shootout after regulation time ended 0-0.

Pakistan, who last won the competition in 1994, are the most successful team with four titles.

The Netherlands have won it three times while Germany and Australia have won it twice.

India has one World Cup crown to its name with their sole victory coming in 1975.

"On behalf of Hockey India, I would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Hon'ble (sic) Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik Ji for unveiling the logo of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar - Rourkela," said Gyanendro Ningombam, the President of Hockey India.
