The 11th edition of the event is set to begin in Protective Stadium in Alabama on July 7, with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach due to be among those present at the Opening Ceremony.

"The anticipation is growing among everyone, and it is starting to thrill because we are expecting nothing less than an outstanding Games," said Joachim Gossow, chief executive of the International World Games Association (IWGA).

"I know from talking to Birmingham's Mayor Randall Woodfin that he has set the bar high for his city and wants to give his citizens a once-in-a-lifetime event."

The Organising Committee is determined to guard against complacency as preparations reach the crucial final three months.

"A lot has already been done," said Gossow.

"Now we have to put the individual pieces of the puzzle together to form a coherent overall picture.

"This requires a lot of cooperation and communication amongst each other.

"The next three months will show that the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

"Putting this into practice always poses its own challenge in the preparation."

With athletes from 108 nations registered to compete, it is set to be a World Games record after the 2017 edition in Wrocław in Poland had 103 countries in participation.

However, the qualification process is not yet complete, with a deadline set for the end of April.

International Federations are also still tasked with replacing athletes from Russia and Belarus after they were banned from competing following the invasion of Ukraine.

Birmingham residents will be able to follow the countdown to the Games as two clocks have been put up in the city.

The World Games is set to run from July 7 to 17, having been delayed by 12 months on response to the coronavirus pandemic.
