Canada’s Mikaël Kingsbury will be aiming to overcome the challenge of Japan’s Ikuma Horishima to capture a 10th moguls Crystal Globe as the pair looks set to do battle in the International Ski Federation Freestyle Ski World Cup finale in Megève in France.

Kingsbury won the moguls title for the ninth successive season in 2020 before an injury saw him lose his crown last year.

The five-time world champion is now bidding to regain the Crystal Globe but Horishima will hope to deny him.

The pair are separated by just 12 points in the mogul standings heading into the final event with Kingsbury occupying top spot with 572.

Kingsbury also leads the dual moguls by 80 points from Horishima prior to the last competition of the season, due to take place on Saturday (March 19).

The women’s moguls and dual moguls title races will also be decided over the next two days with Japan’s Anri Kawamura, Australia’s Jakara Anthony and France’s Perrine Laffont eyeing silverware.

After moguls seven events, Kawamuru has accumulated 549 points to top the rankings ahead of Laffont who sits second on 510.

Anthony is in contention for the moguls on 505 and is also in pole position in the dual moguls standings on 260.

Laffont will be hoping to overtake Anthony to clinch the dual moguls Crystal Globe as she sits second on 196, while Kai Owens of the United States is third on 150.

Competition is due to start tomorrow with the men’s and women’s moguls competition before the dual moguls events take centre stage on Saturday (March 19).
