In total, 17 athletes are due to participate, with four runs set to decide the champion in an event open to both men and women.

Two runs are due to take place tomorrow before two more on Sunday (February 27) are expected to conclude the competition.

Jonas Frei of Switzerland is the defending champion having won the title on home snow in St Moritz last year, and features on the start list for this year’s event.

Guro Konstanse Frønsdal of Norway was the highest placed female racer in St Moritz, finishing in a tie for sixth, but does not feature this time around.

In a video message to the athletes, IBSF President Ivo Ferriani said: "I wish I could be there to watch you compete.

"You are extraordinary athletes. 

"Together we will continue to push for a future that will allow you to also compete at the Paralympics.

"Good luck, enjoy the event, stay involved and continue to create a legacy for generations to come."

Para bobsleigh had hoped to feature at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics but this application was rejected last year by the International Paralympic Committee, who determined the sport had not met minimum criteria for the number of nations participating regularly in the sport.
